China will continue to have significant economic prosperity at least into 2008 before any financial downturn occurs.

There are many new millionaires in China now, and it has become one of the world’s largest consumers of luxury goods as a result. The root of this status-symbol: conspicuous consumption.


There is always the possibility for China to adversely affect the United Sates, but our two economies are so intertwined, we can become better friends with China by sharing technology in a cooperative way.

An improved diplomatic relationship between the U.S. and China on the UN Security Council could go a long way in mediating the ongoing Middle East crisis between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

I think that this is the way that the relationship is headed anyway. The biggest danger, in my opinion, is that the political system in China does not serve its people effectively and the risk is that they do something stupid like they have in past. Like the great leap forward.
