George Will: Obama’s desire to transform the United States - The Washington Post
Progressive policies or communism, did not necessarily flow from FDR but from Wilson and the levers of intervention created by Teddy Roosevelt. But as FDR said...
“Government is a relation of give and take.” The “rulers” — FDR’s word — take power from the people, who in turn are given “certain rights.”This is the real radical thinking. Government did not just take power, it continues to take more-and-more. After the taking, nations get on the slippery slope of unachievable promises like those that the nation is facing now and as we have seen in the collapsing European nations. Unalienable rights, those that are granted by government as the above statement argues, are those that are given in return for the consent to be governed. However, these 'rights' are not permanent and the only rights that we can expect to be permanent are those of Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness. The founders said it correctly, that our natural rights flowed from our humanity and this is the gift from God. The promises of government benefits is an opiate that as we take more-and-more will eventually kill us.

The government will never let that happen, especially one under President Obama.
