Thinking from national treasure, Thomas Sowell on the recent election....
Quite aside from the immediate effects of particular policies, Barack Obama has repeatedly circumvented the laws, including the Constitution of the United States, in ways and on a scale that pushes this nation in the direction of arbitrary one-man rule. The POTUS, a liberal Uber-Mensch, is pursuing policies that will drive the nation towards a more Marxist and central planned approach to the nation's economics. Once these things are implemented, they are extremely difficult to reverse since alternate suppliers no longer have a place and shift resources to other endeavors and people come to expect and rely upon these new government provided economic goods. There becomes no other options available. For example, with Social Security, people paid in their taxes and now expect that they will receive what they were promised. The government seized the funds, and there were no other options available for people. No other choices for those that were forced into this specific program. So they rightly believed that they did not have to save more or devote resources to savings since Social Security did it for them. Its insidious on many different levels. However, as government drives relentlessly towards the imperial presidency with the tools of Marxist central planning, who is to say that one day there will not be a right-wing or autocrat that gets to and takes power? One day that could be the day when all of the things that the hard-left loves, like abortion on demand, free healthcare and other goodies are taken away. Or that liberties are eviscerated as people come to the point where they do not appreciate government intervention and rebel against it. This is the danger that we face and Sowell identifies the platform that creates this new world. .
Now that Obama will be in a position to appoint Supreme Court justices who can rubber stamp his evasions of the law and usurpations of power, this country may be unrecognizable in a few years as the America that once led the world in freedom, as well as in many other things.
The United States has truly become a nation of takers. But the problem with Utopian redistribution is that it eventually leads to the loss of individual liberty. People have been born, raised and lived decades within this socialist economy having been indoctrinated into this from an early age, particularly in their schooling so therefore do not know any better. It will be impossible politically to reverse this course so we will continue to experience greater socialism and loss of liberty in fit and starts.
But what cannot last forever, won't. Why wait for the inevitable collapse of the Utopian redistributionist economy? Resist it today, with violence if necessary. The neo-liberals (Democrats) have used violence and the threat of violence against conservatives effectively for decades and as my mother explained to me, it is acceptable since 'people are scared.' I wonder if she would support me if I used violence seeking to attacked the much loved and worshiped socialist state since I am scared for my children.
