I should read her more. I still don't believe in capital punishment.

Update: The Belmont Club weighs in with the argument that the death penalty debate is now a political debate buttressed by the culture wars between European and American sensibilities and less about punishing crime.

For me this is not an issue. The Europeans can choose whatever they want to do for whatever reason. My bottom line is that the judicial process has proved fallible where innocent people have been put on death row and executed. Until we get this problem straightened out, then I feel that no-one should be put to death by the state.
