Conflat.e....

This is a typical leftist liberal argument against allowing economic liberty for its citizens. I remember having a 'discussion' with a liberal where I argued that banking regulations (banking is one the most regulated businesses on the planet) have had very little effect on the performance or safety of the banking system and that maybe no regulations at all would give people a greater interest in ensuring that their banking assets are safe. There are many arguments that I have made on this blog supporting this argument. So, what does the leftist liberal say to me regarding my argument to completely deregulate the banking system? He says 'so you think that murder should be legal too?' So here is what is being conflated; the socialist liberal confuses economic liberty with the true functions of government. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are natural rights that government is charged with protecting. In no way does it make sense to allow wanton murder of one citizen against another. This is whare government is supposed to do. It is one of the limited functions of government. So, like in Somalia above, Libertarianism is not anarchy but a world in government has its role and it carries out its important roles. The other functions is not their business.

Typical nonsense on Libertarianism. As you've stated, it's not about anarchy, it's about defining the role of government, all of which is created for the better good of the community. The government is clearly there to protect rights, not to grant them.

We've become a welfare state, where all solutions are left to career politicians who only have their own self serving agendas.
