The Dalai Lama And Canada....
After meeting with George W. Bush, the first time that a sitting President has met publicly with the spiritual leader, awarded him the Congressional Gold Medal, the US Congress’s highest civilian honour, the Dalai Lama went to see the Canadian Prime Minister who made him an honorary citizen of Canada. Canadians are everybody's friends and all-around nice people. Of course, the clowns that run China, never one portray themselves as nothing less that idiotic buffoons, protested the meeting...
In a statement to the daily Globe and Mail, the Chinese foreign ministry said it had also pressed Ottawa to turn him away, asking Canadian officials to "clearly understand the nature of the Dalai Lama's separatist activities."And of course China feels compelled to continue to look stupid as chronicalled here....
Further, Beijing warned Ottawa to "not allow him to use Canadian territory for activities to split China, and not to do anything to harm Sino-Canadian relations."
The Dalai Lama’s congressional award and US visit have been condemned by Beijing, which accused Congress of “interfering in China’s internal affairs”. Last month Beijing warned Germany that bilateral ties had been damaged after Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, met the Dalai Lama in Berlin. He also met John Howard, the Australian Prime Minister, in June. The only ones that harm Sino-Canadian relations are the Chinese themselves with their over-the-top yapping about visits from the Dalai Lama and Taiwanese officials. It always amazes me that they say the same old thing when the Dalai Lama makes his rounds... interfere in the internal affairs, blah, blah, blah. Why don't governments that invite these people tell the Chinese to shut-up? The Chinese are always meeting and supporting horrible despots around the world, sometimes interfering in the internal affairs of those places. And they also have passed legislation that one is not allowed to be reincarnated with out permission from the Chinese Government...
The Dalai Lama’s US visit comes amid growing tensions between Beijing and Tibetan monks after China introduced new laws on reincarnation, an important element of Buddhist faith. Beijing said last month that living Buddhas are no longer allowed to be reincarnated without permission from the atheist Communist Government.
But even more scary than the idiotic comments by brain-dead Chinese officials is this quote from the article...
"It was clearly an historic meeting," said Jason Kenney, secretary of state for multiculturalism. My God, Canada has a Secretary of State for Multiculturalism? How did something as silly as this come about? The nicest people on Earth are also becoming the most silly with this kind of thing.
"I hope that the entire world gets the message that attacking a 72-year-old pacifist Buddhist monk who advocates nothing more than cultural autonomy for his people is counterproductive."
