After 6 month holiday, its time to start up again.....
So, how will folks feel when the Dow hits 6,000 in the next 18 months?

Federalism, Free Markets and the Liberty To Let One's Mind Wander. I Am Very Worried About the Fate of Liberty in the USA, Where Government is Taking people's Lives ____________________________________________________________________________________________ "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Tolerance in the face of tyranny is no virtue." -Barry Goldwater-
So, how will folks feel when the Dow hits 6,000 in the next 18 months?
“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” ― Arthur C. Clarke -
As the central government takes over more-and-more of American life, not only will people feel less connected to others, there will also be other collateral damage, less traditional spirituality, lower participation in the community, more dependence upon government in providing what was traditionally provided by families, communities and neighborhoods.
As big government rips the fabric of American life to shreds and make traditional giving and community care provided from churches and other organizations obsolete, I think that we will find that we are not only less well off from a material perspective, but that we are killing our spiritual life too.....
...clinics aren't closing for lack of need. They simply can't find enough donors since many who had been opening their wallets are now under the impression that universal coverage exists.Big government and the crowding out of competing and symbiotic institutions leaves just one solution, the government itself. And when that inevitably fails, we will be much poorer as a nation. We will also be much poorer spiritually as we are trading God for government, a fools errand.
"As soon as there was the perception of universal healthcare, the likelihood of receiving donations goes down," Colin McRae, a board member for Savannah Georgia's Community Health Mission, which closed Oct. 30. The clinic still had people on a waiting list to be treated when it shut down.
Madison, my hero, and someone that should be everyone's hero!
The arrogance of the American government is not just sad but distressing to many people. The experiment in individual liberty has now become an experiment in individual control and overreaching.
78. How people feel about their government is this number, which represents the percentage of people who say you can only “sometimes” (60 percent) or “never” (18 percent) trust Washington “to do what is right.” That’s stunning. Its not stunning to me. People don't trust their government, not only do they overtly lie to them, they have been complicit in the destruction of liberty and prosperity in the country.
These are the kinds of dopes that we are trying to negotiate with??
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif—who is scheduled to hold one-on-one talks with Kerry this evening in Vienna—”frequently shouts at Western diplomats” in such a forceful manner that bodyguards have hurriedly entered the negotiation room on occasion worried that an incident might occur....The reason that this happens is because no one can take Barack Obama seriously since he has proven not just to be a waffler but also not one that just doesn't know how to negotiate and has no stomach for consequences and duties associated with diplomacy. I guess he is finding out that folks around the world just don't cave in and give him what he wants because of his skin color.
Beijing is scared of these 3 boys? They never cease to amaze me.
Central planning never has worked, all that governments can do is shift through very inefficient methods, resourses that would have probably found more productive homes over longer periods of time....
“Effective demand is dead in the water” and the effort to boost it via bond buying “has not worked,” said Mr. Greenspan. Boosting asset prices, however, has been “a terrific success.”Plus, who listens to Greenspan anymore?
He observed that history shows central banks can only prick bubbles at great economic cost. “It’s only by bringing the economy down can you burst the bubble,” and that was a step he wasn't willing to take while helming the Fed, he said.
....
He also said, “I don’t think it’s possible” for the Fed to end its easy-money policies in a trouble-free manner....
Maybe there is hope for the USA. But only in some parts. There are still significant numbers of folks that are content being takers.
Maybe this is mis-titled. It says that in recent elections that polling tends to under-count Democrats. But what is going on, is that polling may not be reaching certain classes of Democratic voters. Therefore, we find that Democrats has lately outperformed in actually voting the the numbers that professional pollsters generated prior to the election.
Our best guess, based upon extrapolations from the portion of the sample with a verified vote, is that 6.4 percent of non-citizens voted in 2008 and 2.2 percent of non-citizens voted in 2010.From here. And from polling of these non-eligible voters, it is found that 80% voted for Democrats. So, cheating, of course, is difficult to capture in polling particularly if it is as prevalent as this.
And they definitely don't remember the cheating they did voting multiple times. But the Obamessiah has fast become an embarrassment for the nation and I am sure that many are looking forward to getting the clown out of the office an onto the Liberal college speech circuit a-la Hillary Clinton.
As far as Ebola is concerned, Savage says, “If you like your Ebola, you can keep your Ebola; it is part of the new Obamacare plan.”Hey but government cares for unless, of course, it interferes with an election.
According to Savage, Obama is not the only culprit in the mishandling of Ebola. Savage is not too impressed with Dr. Tom Frieden either: “You listen to that fraud at the CDC – the man should be arrested for lying to the public. Every day he changes his story: ‘You can’t get it on a bus, you can get it on a bus. It’s not airborne, it might be airborne.’ I mean are they kidding? This is a nation whose health is being destroyed by this administration.”
Folks should not be coddled and if it makes sense, like it does in almost every other nation on the planet, to produce ID when voting, then lets do it. The argument that people are too stupid or too poor is just not reasonable given the GOTV organizations that will be able to assist in this process.
Voter fraud doesn't exist according to Democrats but that is a lie and they know it. They also cheat and do it it every opportunity that they get. That is why they do not want laws that allow for closing the gap on cheating and largely place the 'race-card' to try to deflect attention from this.
People will also find out that he standoffishness is due to him not being as bright as people give him credit for.
What does one expect when 1. The central government has become increasing hostile to the American people and free enterprise 2. The nation is no longer a nation of opportunity but a nation of envy.
“Unions and trade associations,” she wrote, “are not directed against employers or the public but against the best among their own members.” The goal has never been about “raising the weak in any way whatever, but simply forcing the strong down to the level of the moron.”Given that Public-sector workers had a union membership rate (35.3 percent) more than five times higher than that of private-sector workers (6.7 percent)goes a long way to explain absolutely incompetent and hostile against the people government has become.
With the science against the faith it has so frantically promoted, the UN searches for someone who will turn the debate. Note well: it’s looking for someone who isn’t a scientist but who can play on guilt, racial politics, gender politics and victimhood:
The United Nations is looking for a young woman to, as BBC put it, be the ‘Malala’ of the climate change movement, serving as a voice that will energize this September’s climate change conference. This kind of nonsense plays well with Democrats and Europeans that love redistributionist methods like this since it ensures them money to fund their politics and gains them much greater power than could ever earn in a non-coercive environment. The organization has put out a call for a woman under 30 to speak at the opening session of the 2014 Climate Summit, which is being held on September 23 in New York City. The woman has to be from a developing country and must have a background that includes advocacy on climate change or work on implementing climate mitigation or adaptation solutions. So far, the call for applicants has drawn 544 women, who emailed short videos of themselves persuading world leaders to act on climate change to the Secretary-General’s office. The UN has outed itself with this stunt. Its criteria ensure no leading climate scientists need apply. See, this is no longer about science at all.
Because blacks are nobel savages and any kind of misbevarior is explained away,. Liberals and the press continue to use this tool to maintain their power and I don't think that it benefits anyone except Democrats that use this for political gain and the handful of leeches that live off of this nonsense such as Sharpton and Jackson. Until Americans learn to hold everyone accountable for their actions, the nation will not go beyond this point.
Liberal Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz agreed. Perry’s actions, he said, are “not anything for a criminal indictment,” adding that the indictment is reminiscent of “what happens in totalitarian societies.”That is because the USA is now a totalitarian society.
Not only is that the problem in the United States, but it’s also the problem around the rest of the world. We’re all trapped in this debt sclerosis. U.S. public and private debt is about 346%; it’s been rising now for three quarters, we no longer de-leveraging here. And the Eurozone, in all in the 17 countries there, the debt figures are a hundred percentage points higher; higher still in the UK. And then in Japan, public and private debt is about 650%. What’s significant is that the countries with the higher debt levels are performing the worst, which is very consistent with the academic studies. I mean Europe is in the process of triple dipping. Japan remains mired in difficulty; their economy declined in the first half of the year.Central planning did not work in China, the USSR, North Korea, Vietnam and a host of other countries and it won't work in the USA, Europe and Japan. People there will pay a big price for the idiots that think that they create any kind of increase in standards of living through government fiat.
The world should do this to this flag of inhumanity.
Australians are definitely a racist people but why they would choose to denigrate peoples like Jews over rabidly violent 7th century Muslim cretins is just inexplicable.
"Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.
Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step, and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it (Islam) has vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome." -Winston Churchill- From The River War: An Historical Account of the Reconquest of the Soudan, an 1899 book concerning his experiences as a British Army officer, during the Mahdist War in Sudan.
No surprise here. Germans are probably the rudest, most self centered and pompous people in Europe. Maybe they think that since they were behind 2 of the most brutal and deadly wars in human history that they know better what is right and wrong.
When one chooses incompetence over competence, when one choosing cynicism over genuineness, when one chooses stupidity over intelligence, then one may regret it later. Personally, I do not trust Americans anymore. The nation has adopted a European nihilist profile. As Nietzsche opined, God is Dead. For Americans, the central government is quickly replacing God.
Timidity when facing aggression is not a winning strategy and this guy gets it. However, one also has to recognize, that unlike Europe that can afford to timid and cowardly, Israel cannot as it is constantly under attack. Netanyahu, that I have come to respect and listen to is one that we should take a cue from when dealing with the death cult called Islam....
He made explicitly clear that he could never, ever, countenance a fully sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank. He indicated that he sees Israel standing almost alone on the frontlines against vicious Islamic radicalism, while the rest of the as-yet free world does its best not to notice the march of extremism. And he more than intimated that he considers the current American, John Kerry-led diplomatic team to be, let’s be polite, naive.Currently, I hold out no great hope of the US being a partner with allies and friends whose interests are aligned with ours. Policy from the feckless Obama is to either ignore the problem or to try appease the aggressor. Obama's European inspired nihilistic approaches to grave problems in many places around the world will prove to be deadly and disastrous to those that value life and liberty.
If you oppose Obama its probably because you are a racist. No one could be against the policies or programs of the most brilliant man to set foot in Washington over the past 50 years or so. No one could be against the socialist and redistributionist tendencies of the current administration.
No surprise that you will find a piece of nonsense in the New York Times. This person argues that government forcing companies to offer a specific good or service, in the case of the recent Hobby Lobby case, abortifacient drugs, represents coercion by the Christians and this coercion is therefore un-Christian. The supposed coercion on the part of Hobby Lobby is....
"This is economic coercion. Opponents to the contraceptive mandate have insisted that women remain free to purchase whatever health care services they choose, but this is woefully insensitive to the reality that low-income women and families face. For these women, there is a very large difference between what is available to them for purchase in principle and in effect."See, to the hard left, the government edict camel is deemed to have passed through eye of the needle and that everything necessarily has to conform completely to the needs of these not seen and nebulous 'poor people'. This is what the socialists and my family members time and again cite, the supposed interests of the 'poor people' to justify almost any intrusion of a national government into the lives, decisions and fabric of American life. To me, this attitude suspends intellect and is really some kind of disease. This love of big central government is tantamount to embracing something that is not human, government being the being that cares for you, looks after you protects you and feeds you is almost satanic. But they do it all the same, blindly repeating... the 'poor people'.
Money quote....
Later in the interview, an audience member asked the co-founders if government makes it more difficult for them to engage in long-term planning. Page responded by offering some perspective on how regulation that "increases without bounds" is likely to lead government "to collapse under its own weight:"i usually think that billionaires are generally self serving asses but this one struck a chord with me. Lets hope that government does collapse under its own weight and less toss it out and start anew.
Put me in the camp of saying out loud this is a wonderful thing!!!! Yeah!
This is not even remotely surprising to me that a man that had almost no experience at doing anything is being thought of as the worst President in modern history.
No surprise here. Change climate data is manipulated by scientists to fit the needs of hysterical climate change crowd. This is used by scientists and government to gain them more power than they deserve.
What is the Obama Doctrine, the doctrine from a man that is neither very smart nor experienced....
American freedom will not be secured by empty threats, meaningless red lines, leading from behind, appeasing our enemies, abandoning our allies, or apologizing for our great nation—all hallmarks to date of the Obama doctrine. Our security, and the security of our friends around the world, can only be guaranteed with a fundamental reversal of the policies of the past six years. So we have a person that lives in a fantasy, that never had his ideas challenged, probably, in my opinion, due to the Liberal idea that he was a 'Black' man and folks are not allowed to challenge a 'Black' man. So he never really faced reality but is facing it now.
In 1983, President Ronald Reagan said, "If history teaches anything, it teaches that simple-minded appeasement or wishful thinking about our adversaries is folly. It means the betrayal of our past, the squandering of our freedom."I am afraid that our naive President is leading us down a path, a stupider path, and one that will eventually cause us much more that we would like to pay.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. But it seems to me as if lately we have either been scared to engage or unwilling to continue what is in our best interest. And let us not forget....
-John F. Kennedy-
The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission. But submissiveness is what we are getting with the consequences to prove it.
-John F. Kennedy-
Not only incompetent, I don't think that the President is very bright.
Democrats and the hard-left continue to argue that there is no proof of voter fraud despite their being plenty of proof. I just figure that Democrats think that they deserve to be able to cheat in elections since:
1. they have always done so;But to claim that requiring ID or proof of who is racist or an attempt to overtly disenfranchise poor voters is just silly. Besides, if this is a problem, then just set up groups to get these folks IDs and involved.....
2. They are better people so that they have to win at all costs.
It is an article of faith on the Left that voter fraud does not exist beyond the imaginations of racist right-wingers, hellbent on imposing "unconstitutional" voter ID laws fashioned to "suppress" minority turnout in elections. These objections are race-baiting nonsense; they're unsupported by both empirical evidence and Supreme Court precedent. The high court upheld Indiana's law in a 6-3 decision in 2008. The ruling was authored by uber-liberal Justice John Paul Stevens. And after Georgia implemented its own law in 2007 (which survived a legal challenge), minority voter participation increased in the next two election cycles.
AMERICA’S FASTEST-GROWING CLASS OF MILLIONAIRES? Public Employees. “Who are America’s fastest-growing class of millionaires? They are police officers, firefighters, teachers and federal bureaucrats, who, unless things change drastically, will be paid something near their full salaries every year–until death–after retiring in their mid-50s. That is equivalent to a retirement sum worth millions of dollars.Should we be worried about this? Maybe. As economist Herb Stein said,
“If something cannot go on forever, it will stop.”The problem here is that government almost across the board is living way beyond its means. So, we will experience higher taxes to pay for this largesse after we have have experienced the extraordinary borrowing binge that still goes on today.
And I think that he is part of the problem...
"American business, I will tell you, whether it's Berkshire Hathaway or Pfizer or Apple, are doing wonderfully under this tax code." -Warren Buffett, 2014-i happen to be flicking through the TV and came accross him speaking and heard the previous tidbit of 'wisdom.' So, lets actually look at some of these tax rates; Pfizer's effective tax rate was 27.4% in 2013 and Apple's was 26.15%. Or one of the annual favorites is GE at measly 4.19% and also, Verizon, drugmaker Bristol-Myers Squibb and power management firm Eaton, all reported effective tax rates of 0% during recent previous years. These rates also includes, as I understand it, not just the Federal tax but also taxes from states and other jurisdictions including foreign ones where they operate. But as we see that actual tax rates do not mean actual taxes paid...
Earlier this year, the Government Accountability Office, a federal agency, examined corporate tax returns to determine the taxes corporations actually pay. It found that in 2010, profitable corporations based in the United States had an effective federal tax rate of 13 percent on their worldwide income, 17 percent including state and local taxes. From here. And we also see this from Wikipedia....
At 35%, the United States has the highest nominal corporate tax in any of the world's developed economies. However, the average corporate tax rate in 2011 dipped to 12.1%, its lowest level since before World War I, largely due to the great recession and a bonus depreciation tax break. So, for the biggest companies, taxes are not a problem! But this is the problem with mega industrialist Warren Buffett, large corporations have the tools and the global operations to shelter, reduce and avoid taxes. Most companies, companies that employ most of American workers, do not have this capacity and generally are hit by much higher tax rates effectively ceding competitive advantages to the giants that pay lower rates that give them a competitive advantage. Its a game that is played just for the big guys and stifles competitiveness and efficiency. These kinds of advantages granted to the biggest of industrialists hurt not just the smaller competitors but also hurt them competitively from companies overseas. Higher tax rates impact the cost of capital, increase business risk and reduce advantages associated with scalability. So Warren Buffett is being either dishonest or stupid when he makes these kinds of statements. I think that he is being dishonest but I bet no one at CNBC slobbering all over this man would ever actually question anything he says.
Pent-up demand for healthcare? Through central planning, Americans will pay much more, receive less, have reduced access and fewer will actually be covered. A win for everyone!
Only in America ... Could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all. This is not completely true since the same shameful attacks are going on many of the flailing Western socialist countries. But, we must think ans as Alexis de Tocqueville warned 200 years ago....
If ever the free institutions of America are destroyed, that event may be attributed to the omnipotence of the majority, which may at some future time urge the minorities to desperation and oblige them to have recourse to physical force. Anarchy will then be the result, but it will have been brought about by despotism. As the current executive of the USA uses the envy of people to seize the productive assets of a few to 'distribute' to the many, we become a much weaker nation and people. The American government is being the despot that we all warn about in a systematic way and is slowly but cruelty seizing the liberty of the individual. Not unlike China, after the government seized private property in the 1950's, the people became coarse and destitute, its culture was also systematically attacked and the educated and successful people were humiliated and murdered. I see many parallels with 1950's China and the West today. We will be in for a gut wrenching coming several decades and today's recipients of government largess will leave the world much worse off.
It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood. James MadisonBut the USA has become more than this concern, not much unlike China, where law is so voluminous and contradictory that folks there cannot operate without violating some kind of law. In China, they use this confusing array of law to rule by coercion. I call it "Rule by Law." In the US, we used to be a nation where we abided by the "Rule of Law" where law served the purpose of society instead of law perpetuating and strengthening government control over the people. However, the nation is becoming more like the authoritarian China regime and we the people of the united States are losing our liberty and our identity as a free people.
And I think that there should be no restrictions on campaigns or campaign donations. The left like to quash political speech in order to control the discourse. As we know, lots of liberal folks are upset that corporations are considered 'people' and this allows them to donate to political campaigns. They are also considered 'people' so that they can enter into contracts too. So, there is actual reasons why corporations are to be considered 'people.'
