Whacked......

It's not so much that he's a phony, knows nothing about economics, is historically illiterate, and woefully small minded for the size of the task-- all contributory of course. It's that he's not one of us. And whatever he is, his profile is fuzzy and devoid of content, like a cardboard cutout made from delaminated corrugated paper. Moreover, he doesn't command our respect and is unable to appeal to our own common sense. His notions of right and wrong are repugnant and how things work just don't add up. They are not existential. His descriptions of the world we live in don't make sense and don't correspond with our experience.
From here. The current President goes against every fiber of my being and the above quote is probably much too generous to this fellow. The Obamessiah is probably the only person that has obtained such as high level of office with an almost empty portfolio of skills.

The benevolent dictator.....

I have been thinking a lot recently about the concept of the benevolent dictator (I will write a more in-depth piece on this at a later time). There are many that have incredible faith in government and its ability to make proper decisions during times of stress. I remember back in 1998 when someone argued with me that having a dictator in Hong Kong or other Asian nations would assist in overcoming the economic problems that were facing the region at that time. But the problem with dictators, benevolent or not, is that after they solve the problem at hand, we are then stuck with them for all decisions going forward and sometimes for very long periods of time afterwards.

So, our government, in its great wisdom, looking out for the best interests of the nation is planning to allow the President to disconnect customers from the internet in the event of a cyber attack....
Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

.......

The new version would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.
More here.

China suppresses communication now in Xinjiang where there has been violence and unrest and does not allow internet access and one cannot make international telephone calls. This is all done in the name of stability but it really is designed to quell a restive population.

However, one needs to consider these massive takeovers of American liberties by the government as we face many challenges going forward. The dangerous intrusion of government into American life is promising a loss of liberty in that nation. Just imagine what is being considered now; besides the ability of the President to disconnect private citizens from the internet, a takeover the American healthcare system that accounts for 20% of the nations output and including all personal healthcare information, intervention in free speech cloaked in the name of the 'fairness doctrine where speech will be judged on its partisan content, an elimination of a worker to vote for or against unionization in privacy and other interventions over the previous several decades.

None of these seem to be a problem at this time, but it could be when the 'benevolent' government will feel compelled to use these tools for either the current stated reasoning or some other use.

The Government Can!!!!!!!

The government takes,
everything we make,

Sung to the tune of "The Candyman Can"

No protesting allowed in America these days.....

Particularly not allowed if one is protesting against the populist liberal healthcare plan...

And some think that some of this is a misguided racist backlash against whites and the sordid racial history between blacks and whites.

The #1 reason that Democrats are rushing to pass a gigiantic socialized medicine bill.......

The real reason that Democrats are rushing through a misconceived and government interventionist healthcare bill is that.....
Democrats are some of the most miserable people that I have ever met. They won't be happy till they make the rest of us as miserable as they are.

Learning English is important in a modern society....

One of my favorite economists Greg Mankiw delivers a wonderful illustration of markets and government.....

Yesterday, I chartered a sailboat so my family and I could spend a couple of hours out on the waters off Nantucket. The captain of the boat met us at the town pier, loaded us onto a small skiff, and then took us to a mooring out in the harbor, where the boat was waiting.

He explained to us that he would prefer to keep his sailboat at the pier, which would make loading and unloading passengers much easier, but he could not get a space there. Every year, he told us, the town has a lottery to allocate the right to rent one of the scare docking slots. For quite a few years, the captain has been putting his name into the lottery, but he has never won. "There are just not enough spaces," he said.

Ever the economist, I replied, "It seems to me that the price isn't high enough."

"Well, actually," the captain said, "if you want to pay more, you can go down there." He pointed to the next dock over.

Apparently, next to the town pier is another pier that is privately owned and operated. The price for a docking space there is about five times as high as it is at the town pier. But there is never any significant shortage. Anyone can sign up for a slot, as long as you are willing and able to pay.

What a wonderful illustration of basic economic principles! In one way or another, scarce resources need to be allocated among competing uses. Free markets typically use the price system. Governments, often in the name of "fairness," seem to prefer other mechanisms, which don't always direct resources to their highest value use.
Bold emphasis is mine. Read his blog here.

Quote of the day....

If the crisis were ruthlessly permitted to run its course, bring about the destruction of enterprises which were unable to meet their obligations, then all entrepreneurs — not only banks but also other businessmen — would exhibit more caution in granting and using credit in the future. Instead, public opinion approves of giving assistance in the crisis. Then, no sooner is the worst over than the banks are spurred on to a new expansion of circulation credit.

-Ludwig von Mises, Austrian aristocrat, economist, philosopher, author and classical liberal who had a major influence on the modern libertarian movement and the Austrian School-
This was central banker Greenspan's mistake, he never allowed investors to lose money by creating expansionary monetary policy to support asset prices. This profligate monetary creation was the flame that ignited the fuel of horrible government policy from taxes to direct intervention in forcing institutions to hold assets created by this policy. See the Mises story here.

Global warning song....

Minnesota for global warming.

Worries over the safety of elected officials....

If I was an elected official, I would be worried too. The nation is going through the biggest shift towards Marxism since the 1960's and some are concerned over safety? Its stupid since everyone needs to be concerned since Marxism keeps people in line using violence, threats and coercion. Examples include; North Korea, USSR, Eastern Europe, China.

Public officials have shown little restraint in legislating, as-of-late, and are intervening in nearly every aspect of American lives and these actions go against the traditional fabric of American life and community. It is inevitable that some people will lash out with violence. But the fear over the safety of the Obamessiah is a little silly. In fact, this meme is one that is being use to support and raise donation funds for certain leftist groups, here.

So, of course, lets try to vilify those that are not inclined to go along with the grandiose plans of the left and lets raise the possibility of an assassination attempt by, of course, a white against the President as a weapon against those that have protested peacefully and loudly as their rights still allow them to do. So how is all of that post-racial drivel that we were hearing about during the campaign? Its inevitable that one of the blunt instruments that will be used by the left is the race-card and this will used more-and-more as their Marxist policy prescriptions for the nation fail to convince a wary and boisterously protesting population...
Experts who track hate groups across the U.S. are growing increasingly concerned over violent rhetoric targeted at President Obama, especially as the debate over health care intensifies and a pattern of threats emerges.
From here. And of course, there was never any violent or threatening language or actions taken during the last Presidency. NOT.

As it once was explained to me, by a leftist pacifist family member that violence against conservatives and Republicans understandable since people are scared. Presumably, she believes that this is not only understandable but justified. In the case of the left, its the means that are always justified by the ends. However, Democrats do need to keep their heads down. As I have said many times before I foresee a civil war of sorts and it could be very very ugly. I too would not hesitate to resort to violence if people try to fit me into their little Marxist Utopian box. Rather be dead than red.

Thought of the day....

Mr. Cote worries, for one thing, that the administration is taking on too much on issues like executive compensation. "If we spend too much time focusing on things like this," Mr. Cote says, "we are just going to get this vast mediocrity where things don't move ahead."
From here.

Who said these things?

The best way to destroy the capitalist system is to debauch the currency.

The goal of socialism is communism.

The history of all countries shows that the working class exclusively by its own effort is able to develop only trade-union consciousness.

The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses.

The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.

There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel.

To rely upon conviction, devotion, and other excellent spiritual qualities; that is not to be taken seriously in politics.

When there is state there can be no freedom, but when there is freedom there will be no state.
Who said these things? Here. Seems quite appropriate for thought these days?

The overlords control your useless little life...

No dissent allowed, nor should it be tolerated. Lets get the Obamacorps out there to quash the masses of people that are questioning the logic and the plans of the neo-marxisits....

And of course the 'gifted' person that the nation unfortunately elected as President is so amazing, wonderful and ever-so eloquent at explaining in simple terms the complex healthcare proposals....

Economic prediction.....

At a quarter to ten you know its travlin again.

Twilight....

Ben Stein gets fired at the New York Times.....

Considered by some on the hard-left to be a right-winger, this centrist gets canned from writing his column after stepping over the liberal line; debating religion in a movie (intelligent design vs. evolution), questioning the boundaries for the Obamessiah in the administration's intervention in the auto business and the final straw, doing advertisements for a credit reporting concern, here. I guess there is no room for non-frothing-at-the-mouth Liberals at the mouthpiece of the Democratic party, the formerly relevant newspaper, The New York Times.

Interesting thoughts from more than a decade ago.....

CONCLUSION
The health policy community has paid insufficient attention to the role of past policies in accelerating costs and diminishing access to Insurance and has been too quick to recommend solutions based on optimistic projections of new regulatory efforts. Reform and aid to those in need based on free market principles are unique in recognizing the values of diversity and the desirability of choice in the highly personal realm of medica1 decision making. Freed of perverse incentives and regulatory obstacles, including those that would be exacerbated by much of the recently proposed reform legislation, markets in medicine, as in other areas, will outperform politics in making desirable health care available to Americans.

Yes, even cretins are invited to comment here......

Glenzo, You were a racist long before you knew what a Democrat was. Yeah, the private sector is doing a great job with health care. The system of a profit driven beaurocrat making health care decisions for individuals is the American way. The rich get the care and the middle class gets the bill. You are EVIL. Too bad you're not alone. Maybe if you sit in a poor areas emergency room they can diagnose your symptoms of greed, racism, and hatred of the country that made you stinkin rich (which seems to be all you value worth on). Remember, Jesus is watching you (a person that has the means to do good for others) perpetuate misery. Don't forget to dry clean your hood for the next klan meeting you racist bastard. Have a nice summer.
Sounds like at frothing-at-the-mouth liberal to little old me. If these neopmarxists want my money then just try to take it. It you care so very much for others, then how about doing something about it. But to try to compel me to perform what you think is correct behavior is just not going to happen particularly if it is couched in such a crude way. This is typical of liberals, thinking that they have the higher moral ground, they revert to anger and violence to compel others to do what they want and what they value. This is also what dictators and fascists do. In fact, the more that these cretins demand and command me to do what they think is correct, the less likely that I will comply and the more likely I am to thwart effort just for sport. Ha ha ha.

Liberals already playing the race card on healthcare....

From the Nobel prize winning Paul Krugman, an economist and NY Times columnist that always has an argument for almost any socialist program that Democrats wants to foist on the American populace, plays the race card...
That is, the driving force behind the town hall mobs is probably the same cultural and racial anxiety that’s behind the “birther” movement, which denies Mr. Obama’s citizenship. Senator Dick Durbin has suggested that the birthers and the health care protesters are one and the same; we don’t know how many of the protesters are birthers, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it’s a substantial fraction.
This is to be expected. As the Democrats get desperate to jam their formula of healthcare reform down the people's throats, normal citizens get angrier and angrier over the Marxism that is engulfing the nation. So what is a good control freak Marxist to do? Race card comes out. The liberals now are saying its all about the Obamessiah. And if Americans do not acquiesce to what the god wants, then its racism.

Well, so be it. If retaining one's liberty is racism to Democrats, then so be it. I am a racist too, then.

Another iinformation dispatch to the Whitehouse in order to alert them to mis-information and errant thinking on healthcare....

To the Axelrod administration;

In addition to the note that I sent to you 12 hours ago on the disgusting and un-American material being propagated by such purveyors of anti-socialized medicine hate such as myself, Milton J. Madison, therefore, I again want to report myself. I too have have had 'fishy' thoughts about the Marxist lurch that the nation has been taking and my serious misgivings about this. These thoughts are the seeds and genesis of mis-information that potentially may come from me. Since I figure that in addition to 'fishy' misinformation, you also want to know about the fishy' thinking that is going on amongst your less-than-perfect non-patriotic non-kowtowing citizenry since by catching these early seeds before they actually become mis-information would be an effective way to control what information people are considering and what they are thinking.

Your humble servant,
Glenzo
Once again, reporting myself to the overlords in Washington that want to control the information that Americans consider and the thoughts of the citizenry on the move towards a Marxist Utopian state.

You too can participate in this amazing act of reporting other citizens to the government by reporting to; flag@whitehouse.gov

Thanks for your patriotism in moving towards ensuring that all information is passed through a government screening mechanism before being disbursed to the general populace where it could do damage.

Three timely quotes by Federalist James Madison....

We are right to take alarm at the first experiment upon our liberties.

Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in his opinions, his person, his faculties, or his possessions.

Wherever there is interest and power to do wrong, wrong will generally be done.

China prostitutes better trusted than politicians and scientists....

China's prostitutes are better-trusted than its politicians and scientists, according to an online survey published by Insight China magazine.

The survey found that 7.9% of respondents considered sex workers to be trustworthy, placing them third behind farmers and religious workers.

"A list like this is at the same time surprising and embarrassing," said an editorial in the state-run China Daily.

Politicians were far down the list, closer to scientists and teachers.

Insight China polled 3,376 Chinese citizens in June and July this year.

"The sex workers' unexpected prominence on this list of honour... is indeed unusual," said the China Daily editorial.

"At least [the scientists and officials] have not slid into the least credible category which consists of real estate developers, secretaries, agents, entertainers and directors," the editorial said.

Soldiers came in fourth place.
From here. I am surprised that scientists are not trusted so much.

I feel compelled to report myself to the Whitehouse since I am writing 'fishy' disinformation on healthcare.....

Dear Obama administration;

I feel that it is my duty to report this 'fishy' blog that is not only serving up disinformation on your grandiose healthcare plans but also seems to be anti-Marxist and is not very pleased with what is going on in Washington these days. Additionally, the writer of this blog appears to not be in complete and total love with the President and this kind of dissent should not be tolerated and eliminated.

http://madjaymon.blogspot.com/

Glenzo
I hope that the administration of David Axelrod does something with this so that they can achieve their grandiose Marxist plans for Amerika.

Thursday, August 06, 2009

In case you have not understood, you common American clowns (says the great elected Representative), like the Erie Canal, the take over of the American healthcare system by an annoying and completely clueless federal government will make this country great again!!!! One gigantic leap of faith there and somewhat loose use of history. So, one can just bet on this, since Steny Hoyer says it. Well at least we know we are in the best of hands since this fellow is the 2nd in command behind Nancy "darth vader" Pelosi. Don't shoot this guy, it would be too compassionate.

As you wsee in the above video, these right-wing well dressed Republican plants and stooges at the meeting, those that just want to ruin and dare to question the grandiose plans by the anointed God-king Barack, the bonehead, Obamessiah ( all white people must be racists if you ask me) as to why a massive government intervention into one of the 'most important' consumer products Americans can consume, should be rushed through Congress in shorter period of time, then the Obamessiah family took to decide what kind of dog to get, is incomprehensible and amazing. I like this sentence despite its grammar.

Lets break what's not really broken....

Forty-eight percent (48%) of U.S. voters now rate the U.S. health care system as good or excellent. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that just 19% rate it as poor.

These figures reflect a significant increase in support for the health care system over the past few months. In May, just 35% of adults nationwide rated the system as good or excellent. A year ago, just 29% of Likely Voters rated the system in such positive terms.
Rasmussen polling here. Lots of other tidbits in the polling story too. Have a look.

Now that there has been a national discussion on healthcare, people have had a chance to look at the issue, reflect on it and are increasingly realizing what they already have is pretty good and are rightly concerned that the dead hand of government intervention will probably reduce the typical person's access, increase the cost and reduce quality and innovation.

So, of course, Democrats will not be satisfied until they completely control every aspect of American life, including; what you eat, what you drive, your relationship between you and almost every service provider ultimately leading to Orwellian Marxism.

Obamacorps, defending Marxism and eliminating dissent.....

So we need a well funded and trained civilian defense force to keep the populace in line. I am sure that 50 years from now, historians will be amazed at the modern-American creation of Nazi brownshirts.

And, of course, before we get Civilian Defense Corps up and running, one can assist in sending the White House any kind of 'fishy' materials that go against their current plans. I suppose that they will want to try to eliminate any dissenting view points while creating the perfect Utopian Marxist America.

Those crazy Aussies.....

An Aussie is sitting at a bar in New York City and looks at his watch
several times in the space of a few minutes.

The woman sitting nearby notices this and asks, "Is your date running late?"

"No," he replies, "I have this state-of-the-art watch. I was just testing it."

The intrigued woman says, "A state-of-the-art watch? What's so special about it?"

The Aussie explains, "It uses alpha waves to talk to me telepathically."

The lady says, "What's it telling you now?"

"Well, it says you're not wearing any panties."

The woman giggles and replies, "Well it must be broken because I am wearing panties!"

The Aussie smiles, taps his watch and says, "Bloody thing's running about an hour fast - can I buy you a drink?"

Obamacare and the necessity of protecting Americans from medical caused bankruptcies....

The Socialist-in-chief has argued that the high cost of medical care has bankrupted numerous Americans and brought financial ruin upon them citing these statistics...
Over half of U.S bankruptcies result from out-of-pocket medical expenses, according to a study published on June 24, 2005 in the journal Health Affairs. The study, conducted by researchers at Harvard’s medical and law schools, is based on interviews with 1,771 individuals who filed for bankruptcy in 2001. Of these filers, 931 cited medical causes for their financial woes.

The results of the study indicate that an estimated 1.9-2.2 million Americans (the filers and their families) are affected annually by medical bankruptcy. In other words, every 30 seconds someone new is forced to contend with the double whammy of medical and financial catastrophe.
From here.

But also we find actual bankruptcy statistics such as this from here....
There has been a steady increase in bankruptcies over the last three years. In 2006 there were 590,500 filings and in 2007 there were 827,000. There were a record 2.1 million filings in 2005, when 630,000 Americans filed in the two weeks before revisions to federal bankruptcy laws.
Ok, so if there were really a medical costs causing bankruptcies every 30 seconds, and since there are 2 30 second periods every minute, we find if we multiply out the number of 30 second periods in a year, then we will see that it equals this: 2*60*24*365= 1,051,000. So the math doesn't seem to work right. In other words, according to these 'researchers' (that happen to work in the medical industry) there are more medical bankruptcies - 1.9-2.2 million annually - caused filings than there are actual bankruptcies.

Just for argument, lets assume that there are a large number of medical bankruptcies. This also implies that these medical procedures are important enough where people are willing to pay lots of money to go through these procedures that will reasonably lead to financial ruin. One of the situations one may think that is important enough is the saving of a life. If spending the money to save one's life leads to financial ruin, then I assume that financial ruin is preferable to the alternative of death.

So, all I have to say about this is....
Going bankrupt from medical expenses is always better than going to probate.

Lincoln's 10 cannot's.....

There is a list of ten statements beginning with "You cannot .. ." that are popularly attributed to Abraham Lincoln, (1809 - 1865) Sixteenth President of the United States. They sound so wise and so much like things he would have said that they are frequently quoted and attributed to him in print. They are:
1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong
3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
4. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence.
6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
10. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.
But alas! Lincoln did not say these things. They were written in 1916 by the Rev. William J. H. Boetcker, a Presbyterian clergyman and pamphlet writer. In 1942, a group called the Committee for Constitutional Government gave out a great many leaflets entitled "Lincoln on Limitations" that contained on one side a real Lincoln quote and on the other side the 10 Boetcker statements. Boetcker was credited with his statements on the leaflet, but their proximity in print to one real quote by Lincoln, plus the title of the leaflet, led people to think that Lincoln had said the ten listed statements. They were repeated in many printed sources, and are still regarded by many as authentic Lincoln quotes. Carl Sandburg, Lincoln's most famous biographer, dismissed them as spurious.
Here. This is something that has made the rounds lately. But no matter who has said it, it is still appropriate.

From a piece on 10 reasons why the American Helathcare system isn't as bad as people argue....

Number 7 is the most stiking to me. Why should we try to emulate the healthcare systems of countries where the citizens think that it no longer serves them and needs it own reforms. Chances are, that these socialist systems will be moving to more market based reformed....
7. People in countries with more government control of health care are highly dissatisfied and believe reform is needed. More than 70 percent of German, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and British adults say their health system needs either “fundamental change” or “complete rebuilding.”

10. Americans are responsible for the vast majority of all health care innovations. The top five U.S. hospitals conduct more clinical trials than all the hospitals in any other developed country. Since the mid- 1970s, the Nobel Prize in medicine or physiology has gone to U.S. residents more often than recipients from all other countries combined. In only five of the past thirty-four years did a scientist living in the United States not win or share in the prize. Most important recent medical innovations were developed in the United States.
From here.

Medical innovation happens in the US. Under Marxist socialized medicine, this will no longer happen. This will not only be bad for Americans since not only will it reduce medical innovation available to them it will also reduce the number of jobs and businesses that can be exported to others since these innovations will never happen.

But a further thought is that socialized medicine probably works really well as it did for decades in Europe due to the relative young age of the postwar babyboom population. These populations, due to their young age, had little need to for much healthcare (or time to waste on it). But as these populations age, they face the same pressures that the US does. One cannot hold back the effects of time and their is no government program that will solve the problems facing us. Furthermore, the opiate of government intervention will only lead to greater conflict as government will never deliver as promised.

Foam over substance......

Foam over substance!!!! I like it since it completely describes exactly what this President is all about.

And do not even think about civil disobedience in the time of the Obamessiah.....

The campaigner-in-chief has suggested a need to have an internal civilian defense force that is as well funded and trained as the US military. What is this needed for and what will be their role in internal security?

Maybe, as people become more-and-more frustrated with the intervention in every aspect of American lives that Americans will have to be kept in line by a well trained civilian defense force. If you own a gun, then there will have to be a force that disarms you in the case that you do not give up your personal weapons willingly. Not willing to work since you will not benefit personally from that effort, these people could force you to go to work. Not willing to register or buy the new healthcare plan that you are required to buy according to law, then these people will be available to accompany you to the office to ensure that you are properly signed up. Want to protest something? The new civilian defense force will be available to record your protest and ensure that participants and the general population will not be at risk for either confrontation or that these protest inconvenience anyone in any way.

I look forward to all of this.

For you class warfare warriors.....

Most Democrats that spend extraordinary amounts of time frothing at the mouth on making the rich pay for everything, should take heed that they are already paying much more than their fair share. As this information from 2007 shows, the 'rich' or better explained, those that earned high incomes, during that specific period of time, specifically the top 1% paid more in taxes than the bottom 95% Hello? This is not representative democracy, its become the tyranny of the majority taxing a small minority.....
Indeed, the IRS data shows that in 2007—the most recent data available—the top 1 percent of taxpayers paid 40.4 percent of the total income taxes collected by the federal government. This is the highest percentage in modern history. By contrast, the top 1 percent paid 24.8 percent of the income tax burden in 1987, the year following the 1986 tax reform act.

Remarkably, the share of the tax burden borne by the top 1 percent now exceeds the share paid by the bottom 95 percent of taxpayers combined. In 2007, the bottom 95 percent paid 39.4 percent of the income tax burden. This is down from the 58 percent of the total income tax burden they paid twenty years ago.

To put this in perspective, the top 1 percent is comprised of just 1.4 million taxpayers and they pay a larger share of the income tax burden now than the bottom 134 million taxpayers combined.
From here. Why not just seize everyone's money and then give it back to those that deserve it the most. Can one say Marxism, we are on the slippery slope to an awful new world based upon communist principles. Lucky for me that I can stay over here in communist China where people have significantly more freedoms in many areas then one has in the US.
